The size of the bar stand is entirely determined by the total weight/weight distribution, be sure to check how the engine is positioned in the boat. AQ installations are always rear-heavy about 30/70% (with one engine) in weight distribution as well as “outboards” which usually have a slightly better weight distribution because they are generally lighter than the equivalent. Note: the total weight should include the weight of the cover and e.g. snow load if it is of the deck stand type, as well as the weight of fuel, water, extra equipment, etc. Manufacturers generally indicate weights for the “empty boat”, the actual weight is usually about 20% greater (a 2.5 t boat weighs about 3.0 t).

When jacking up the boat two stands are always needed (bow + stern). The width of the bar stand should be about equal to the beam of the boat.
