KS
KS
General recommendations:
KS is primarily aimed as keel stand for V-bottom boats, combined with Type MBS (but also MBS + SBS – depending on the bottom shape).
- Boat stands should only be used on firm surface where surrounding conditions (like weather) never affect the stability
- Position the stands according to the boat manufacturers recommendations, normally a pair of stands for every 2,6–3,3 m
- The entire weight of the boat should be borne by the keel support, not by the stands
- The keel support should be placed depending on the weight distribution of the boat
- Use KS (or wide, large sized blocks) as keel support
- Select size of keel stand depending on boat handling system and to ensure equal adjustment for the thread in both directions
- Safety chain should always be used to secure the stands to each other
- Never tie anything to the stands (like cover). In heavy wind the stands might be pulled away
Variant of steel stand is determined by bottom shape and keel support. MBS is used for flat bottom shape. KS is used for sharp V-shaped hulls (or in the bow). SBS is used for all other bottom types.
The number of stands is determined by weight, length, and draft of the boat.
If in doubt – consult the manufacturer.
